What is recorded when you browse

Three things, per page view:

• A country code — two letters, such as IN or DE. It comes from the hosting layer, which derives it from your connection. Your IP address is not passed on to us and is not stored.
• The path you looked at — for example /apps/overcast-podcast-app-422857.
• The time it happened.

That is the entire record. No IP address, no cookie, no device or browser fingerprint, no identifier of any kind, and nothing that links one page view to the next. Two visits by you and two visits by different people are indistinguishable in that table, deliberately.

It exists so a developer can be told how many people this site sent to their App Store page, and roughly where from. That is the entire purpose, and it is the reason there is nothing more in it.

Clicks out to the App Store

When you tap through to an app, the count on that listing goes up by one and a daily total for that app is incremented. Nothing about you is attached to either.

Cookies

There is no tracking cookie and no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to. The only cookie this site can set is a session cookie for the site owner’s own admin login, which a visitor never receives.

Your theme preference — light or dark — is kept in your own browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device and we cannot read it.

If you submit an app

You give us an App Store link and an email address. We use the link to fetch what Apple publishes about the app, and the email address to write to you about that submission: to confirm it, to tell you a placement has started or is ending, or to answer you.

Your email address is not published on the site, not shown to other users, not sold, not shared with anyone for their own purposes, and not used for marketing. There is no mailing list to be added to.

If you buy a placement

Payment is handled by Dodo Payments, which is the merchant of record. You enter your card details on their system, not ours. We never see or store a card number.

We pass Dodo enough to connect your payment to what you are buying, and they tell us when it has cleared. What Dodo itself collects and keeps is governed by their own privacy policy, and they are the data controller for it.

Who else touches the data

• Vercel — hosts the site and serves every request.
• Supabase — hosts the Postgres database the listings live in.
• Dodo Payments — processes payments as merchant of record.
• Apple — we read its public App Store endpoint for app metadata. Apple is not told who is browsing this site.

There is no advertising network, no analytics provider, no tag manager, no session recorder, no A/B testing service and no social tracking pixel anywhere on this site.

How long it is kept

Page-view rows are kept as a long-run record of how much traffic a listing received, because a developer may ask about a period months after it happened. Since a row is a country, a path and a time, it does not become more identifying with age.

A submitter’s email address is kept while the listing is live, and removed when the listing is removed.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to hello@indie-apps.com.

In practice the only thing we hold that identifies a person is a submitter’s email address, and it can be removed on request along with the listing. Page-view rows cannot be traced to an individual, so there is nothing in them to retrieve or erase on your behalf.

Children

This site is for developers listing software and people looking for software. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change ever meant collecting something genuinely new, it would be said here plainly rather than folded into a paragraph.
