Refund policy

Before it starts, you can have your money back for any reason at all. Once it has run, you have had the thing you bought. Everything below is the detail around those two sentences.

In effect since 6 September 2026.

The short version

  • Before your placement starts — full refund, no reason needed, no questions.
  • While it is running — refunded for the days that have not run yet.
  • After it has finished — no refund, because the thing you bought has been delivered.
  • If we break it — our fault means your money back, whatever stage it is at.

Before it starts

A placement is bought for dates you choose, which are usually in the future. Any time between paying and those dates beginning, write to us and you get everything back. You do not have to explain, and we will not ask you to.

This includes changing your mind, picking the wrong week, buying the wrong tier, or deciding the whole thing was a bad idea.

While it is running

If you want out partway through, you get back the portion that has not run, worked out by day. A $19 Spotlight cancelled after two of its seven days refunds five days’ worth.

The days already served are not refunded, because your app was in that position and other apps could not be.

After it has finished

Once a placement has run its dates, it is not refundable. What you bought was a position on a page for a period, and you had it.

In particular, a placement that did not produce the traffic you were hoping for is not grounds for a refund. We are explicit on the pricing page and in the terms that no result is promised, and that is not fine print — it is the honest description of what a directory placement is.

When it is our fault

You are refunded in full, at any stage, if:

  • we take your listing down for a reason that is not your doing;
  • your placement did not appear where it was supposed to, or did not appear at all;
  • the site was down long enough to materially eat into your dates — in which case we will offer to extend or reschedule instead, and it is your choice which you take;
  • you were charged twice, or charged for something you did not buy.

When we will not refund

If we remove your listing because it broke the terms — the app was not yours to submit, the information was knowingly false, the app was harmful or unlawful — there is no refund. That is the only case where money already paid is not returned on request.

The free listing

A free listing costs nothing, so there is nothing to refund. You can ask us to remove it at any time and we will.

How to ask

Write to hello@indie-apps.com from the address you used at checkout, and say which app. That is the whole process — there is no form.

We aim to reply within two working days and to send the refund within five. The money is returned by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record, to the card or account you paid with. How long it then takes to appear is your bank’s business, and is usually a further few days.

Your statutory rights

Nothing on this page reduces a right you have under the consumer law of the country you live in. Where that law gives you more than this policy does, it wins.
